Electro-harmonix ABOUT electro-harmonix Electro Harmonix was founded in October 1968 by Mike Matthews. The first product was a fuzz pedal called the Axis Fuzztone. After that, the linear power booster "LPB-1", a model that could be called the original booster, created with Bob Mayer, an engineer at Bell Laboratories, who won numerous Nobel Prizes in Physics, became a big hit, and the Electro Harmonix brand became widely known, even though it was only sold by mail order. Subsequently, around the latter half of 1969, they released the famous "Big Muff", and in the 1970s they released models that are still popular today, such as the Small Stone and Memory Man, which recorded strong sales. Although the company was doing well in the 1970s, it faced problems with labor unions and parts supply in the 1980s, and went bankrupt once in 1984. So Mike Matthews moved to the former Soviet Union and established a new company, New Sensor Corp., in 1988. Under the "Sovtech" brand, the company produced products such as vacuum tubes, effectors, and amplifiers one after another, and made a comeback as a comprehensive music equipment manufacturer. In 1991, he regained the electro-harmonics trademark he had once lost, and in 2002 he returned to his base in New York, where he continues to deliver unique effect units to many players around the world. Optimizing the distortion masterpiece "Big Muff" for bass Since its introduction in 1968, the Big Muff, synonymous with fuzz/distortion, has fascinated countless guitarists from Jimi Hendrix and Santana to Korn and the White Stripes, and has also been responsible for the distortion of countless bassists. The "Bass Big Muff" is a further evolution of the Big Muff, which has been optimized for bass use. The Bass Big Muff is based on the army green Russian version of the Big Muff and the early 70's Big Muff, which are popular among bassists, and adds a [BASS BOOST/NORM/DRY] switch. In the [DRY] position, the original sound (dry signal) before entering the input jack is mixed with the output signal that has passed through the distortion circuit. It is an ideal bass distortion that combines the distorted sound of the Big Muff with the thickness of the dry sound, creating a perfect bass drive sound. Big muff control optimized for bass ■SUSTAIN: Controls sustain and distortion amount. As you turn it clockwise, the distortion becomes stronger. ■TONE: Tone cone troll optimized for the bass frequency band. ■VOLUME: Controls the output level. If the switch is set to [DRY], this control has no effect on the dry sound (original sound). Equipped with 3 knobs and mode selector switch BASS BOOST/NORM/DRY switch Switch to change operation mode. [BASS BOOST] mode boosts the low range into distortion. Effective when the Tone knob is set after 12 o'clock. [NORM] mode gives you the classic Big Muff Pi tone. In [DRY] mode, the original sound (clean sound) is added in addition to distortion. The size of the dry signal is constant and is not affected by the Volume control. *When using an adapter, be sure to use the genuine adapter JP9.6DC-200 (sold separately).
